I’ve been doing some research on bikes and I’ve noticed something curious.
this type of bike is never ever mentioned. the only small bike mentioned is the bmx.
so, this is mine. it’s a ‘mini cic’ , it’s like those urban bikes that have been popping up around (like the one my older sister bought) but it’s small. 20 inches like a bmx, single-speed with no external brakes, just backtracking (which is so awesome, I never want to ride a bike with external brakes again)
I think these are a Chilean invention, at least I haven’t even seen them mentioned anywhere else. they were made starting in like the 60’s maybe? after the 80’s though they were kinda forgotten until recently, when they’ve had a comeback, with kids pulling rusty bikes off sheds, some using them, some selling them. I’m not entirely sure if new ones are being made at all. I know they’ve experienced a resurgence cause of a popular movie called “machuca” set in the 80’s where the protagonists ride this kind of bike. that plus current nostalgia trend and there you go.
